Group Description
This group sits within ABPI Scotland, with its membership coming from member companies who have an interest within the Diabetes disease area. The chair of the group is John Hughes.
Aims and objectives
Vision: SDIG aims to be an active partner with the Scottish Diabetes Group in the successful implementation of the Diabetes Action Plan for the benefit of patients across Scotland.
Aims: as an active partner:
· We welcome the opportunity to help develop solutions for the implementation of the Diabetes Action Plan
· We could utilise the combined business acumen and skills of the individuals / companies within the group
· We will be actively represented at all SDG meetings and the sub-groups
· The representative from SDIG will be empowered to act on behalf of the group
Aims: to develop and enhance trustworthiness:
· Focussing on prevention as well as treatment
· Implementing best practice as outlined in ‘A Common Understanding’ and the ABPI Code of Practice
· Outcomes will be developed through win/win/win thinking

Current activity
SDIG is currently involved in the following activities:
· Diabetes in Scotland Conference in partnership with The Scottish Government, NHSScotland and Diabetes UK Scotland
· Membership of the Scottish Diabetes Group and all the sub-groups
· Provision of Marketing Consultancy to SCI-DC
Future direction
SDIG will continue to be involved within the ongoing activities and also become involved in joint working solutions with the Scottish Diabetes Group which fit with the vision and aims of the group
